Our Growing Practices
Full Heart Farm practices sustainable growing methods.
Produce
Our vegetables, herbs, berries, and cut flowers are all grown using minimum off-farm inputs. We grow healthy produce by encouraging a healthy soil environment and lots of worms!
Though our farm is not certified organic (because of costly certification and our beliefs in a growing system that's EVEN BETTER than organic), we have signed the CT NOFA Farmer's Pledge. We do not use synthetic fertilizers or chemical pesticides, which can be harmful to the environment.
Animals
Our animals are all raised outdoors, on pasture, using a rotational grazing system that improves both the health of the land and the health of the animal. While our animals are fed some grain and plenty of leftover vegetables, the majority of their diet comes from leaves, grass, and insects that they harvest themselves. This system means that our animals are healthier and happier, and the meat and eggs they produce are better for us!
